Ambiente 2020. All things design at the trade fair in Frankfurt am Main
Visitors to this year’s Ambiente trade fair in Frankfurt am Main, open from 7 to 11 February, will enjoy a whole series of special shows and events from the world of design. The trends set to shape 2020 will be showcased in a special presentation, as well as talks and dossiers. The Ethical Style Guide proves that sustainability is also becoming increasingly important for consumer goods. For this year, the directory lists 314 exhibitors from 49 countries who produce according to ecological and socially compatible criteria. In the long-standing special show Solutions, designer Sebastian Bergne will be presenting his new kitchen and household aids that deliver an ideal combination of function and design. In an effort to promote young designers, the trade fair will once again dedicate a space in the Talents area for young designers to present their work. With Focus on Design, Ambiente 2020 is also launching a new format to highlight products and designers from a specially selected country through talks and presentations. Brazil will be the first country to feature in this new programme. The German Design Awards 2020 will once again present the products of the prizewinners in a special exhibition. And the “anti-prize” Plagiarius, which has been awarded since 1977 and is a regular feature of the fair, turns the spotlight on plagiarism and counterfeiting as well as the damage this causes to business and consumers.
