ARCHIVIO is published and edited by the Promemoria Group. The annual magazine aims to inform readers about the ever-evolving practices of archiving, offering a rich mix of materials, professionals and institutions from around the world. For over a decade, Promemoria has been working with brands and institutions to transform cultural heritage into archives full of knowledge, content and experience. After every four editions, ARCHIVIO evolves.

While the name, programme and vision remain the same, the editorial team, design and inspirations change to offer new and fresh interpretations. Since 2017, ten different editions have explored more than 200 archives in collaboration with leading international experts. In 2023, a new cycle of four thematic editions will be launched, each curated by specialised guest editors. After an issue dedicated to fashion, ARCHIVIO N°10 will focus on design. The editors of the design edition are the renowned British designer Jasper Morrison and Marco Sammicheli, director of the Museo del Design Italiano at the Milan Triennale. Daniela Hamaui is the editorial director and Alessandro Gori is the artistic director.

For the cover and the first pages of the issue, Jasper Morrison has curated an imaginary archive of everyday objects made in different times and places, yet linked by a common understanding of what an object is. Divided into three sections – ‘Organisations’, ‘Brands’ and ‘Designers & Creatives’ – the issue maps the landscape of international design archives and explores their differences. “Organisations” includes institutions, museums and foundations that exhibit or preserve objects that have made or are making design history. “Brands” tells the story of major companies through their archived treasures; and “Designers and Creatives” profiles individuals who stand out for their genius and ability to understand and be inspired by the needs of society. The Design Museum in London, the Salone del Mobile in Milan, the design companies Kartell and Fornasetti, the Italian industrial design yearbook *Ottagono* and AliasMAGAZINE by furniture manufacturer Alias are among the subjects covered. As a result of the research, a special poster presents an (in)complete map of the many design archives in Italy.
