Since 1 February, Daimler AG has become Mercedes-Benz Group AG. The renaming completed the realignment of the company that began last year. With the previously announced change, the Group is now emphasising its focus on the automotive business following the successful stock market debut of Daimler Truck AG. Carl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler had initially presented their groundbreaking inventions independently of each other in 1886, thus heralding the beginning of the automobile age. The Mercedes-Benz brand had then been created in 1926 in the course of the merger of the predecessor companies of Carl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler.

Parallel to the renaming of the passenger car division, Daimler Mobility AG is also being renamed: In future, the company will offer mobility services for cars and vans in the areas of financing, leasing and insurance as well as vehicle use through rental and subscription models, fleet management and digital services relating to charging and payment under the name Mercedes-Benz Mobility AG. In the course of the renaming to Mercedes-Benz Group AG, the company’s stock exchange abbreviation will also change from “DAI” to “MBG”. There will be no other changes for the shareholders. The shares of Mercedes-Benz Group AG remain a member of the German share index DAX.

Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, said: “The change of name to Mercedes-Benz Group AG underlines our strategic focus. For everyone to see, we are returning to the core of our company – building the most desirable automobiles in the world. The Mercedes star has always been a promise for the future: to change what exists in order to improve it. We want to continue this legacy of our founders by taking the lead in electromobility and vehicle software.” The new Mercedes-Benz Group AG will thus concentrate fully on passenger cars of the Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-AMG, Mercedes-Maybach and Mercedes-EQ brands as well as vans.
