Dare to Design. German Design Graduates 2024 – Exhibition at MAK Frankfurt
Projects and concepts that radically rethink business and society, daring to envision a new future: The exhibition “Dare to Design. German Design Graduates 2024” at the Museum Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt am Main (Museum of Applied Arts) presents the latest positions, ideas, and visions in product and industrial design by 45 young designers.
Graduates from German universities offer deep insights into their work and showcase promising solutions to major contemporary challenges such as climate change, political radicalization, and equality. These are complex yet sometimes surprisingly simple and intelligent concepts through which the designers aim to shape our future.
An expert jury selected projects and concepts for “Dare to Design” from over 220 submissions, reflecting the breadth of innovation among design talents—from circular product design for electronics and urban wind energy to medical solutions using 3D printing and robot-assisted craftsmanship.
The exhibition, realized by the design office buero.us, will run from August 31, 2024, to January 5, 2025.
Through the German Design Graduates (GDG) initiative, the German Design Council Foundation provides a platform for emerging talents to showcase groundbreaking ideas that drive change in business and society. GDG is the only nationwide initiative dedicated to promoting graduates from product and industrial design programs and highlighting esteemed German universities and colleges. The diverse range of theses and their nuanced design approaches create space for discourse not only about design but also about research and future-oriented topics. GDG’s primary goal is to showcase and support the quality and diversity of these graduates’ achievements and solutions.
The final theses are made visible through various formats, such as extensive online presentations, international exhibitions, and networking activities. Awards and individual funding opportunities help graduates kickstart their design careers.
