The Düsseldorf-based consumer goods company Henkel is hoping to accelerate innovation and develop new business models by setting up internal think tanks and incubator teams in the Beauty Care and Laundry & Home Care business units. The two think tanks – “Fritz Beauty Lab” and “Love Nature GmbH” – are intended to anticipate upcoming trends, identify new business models and services, and develop product concepts to capture additional growth opportunities. The teams will collaborate closely with internal and external partners. Fritz Beauty Lab takes its name from Henkel’s founder, Fritz Henkel. The lab aims to identify attractive niches with growth potential for existing brands or so-called white spots to create completely new brands. Inspired by trends, consumer needs and market insights, it will enable business models to be developed, rapidly implemented and tested in the market.

Love Nature GmbH is the new think tank for sustainable innovations and concepts in the Laundry & Home Care business unit. The team will focus primarily on sustainable solutions – from detergents and cleaning products to new technologies and business models that extend beyond the core business. It’s about plant-based products that not only clean well and smell great, but are also certified by the EU Ecolabel for their environmental properties. The products are also dermatologically tested: the majority are certified as skin-friendly and allergy-friendly with the ECARF seal and they contain only hypoallergenic fragrances. Plus, all Love Nature products available at refill stations in selected stores are manufactured without any ingredients of animal origin. The bottles are made entirely of recycled plastic and are themselves recyclable. To quickly develop prototypes so that they are ready for market launch, Love Nature uses co-creation with consumers and works with influencers and experts in sustainability.
