Formerly known as the Frankfurt Motor Show, the International Motor Show (IAA) will be held in Munich for the first time this year. The trade show has also adopted a new concept. Although the latest vehicles will still be an essential part of it, the exhibition is striving to be far more than a showcase for products. Entitled “What will move us next”, the IAA MOBILITY 2021 will present all of the important global innovations and trends relating to digital and climate-neutral mobility. It will take place between 7 and 12 September (press and media events will be held on 6 and 7 September). With this move, the IAA is shifting from a conventional car show to an integrated mobility platform which invites visitors to find out all about the mobility solutions of the future.

Numerous international exhibitors from the motor, bicycle and technology industries will showcase future means of transport. Self-driving cars and state-of-the-art bicycles will appear alongside interlinked urban micromobility solutions; after all, approximately 80% of the global population live in towns and cities. Electric mobility will play a key role at the trade show: with 1.37 million newly registered electric vehicles in 2020, Europe is the world’s leading market for EVs, ahead of even China and the USA. The Open Space in Munich’s central plazas will make new products accessible. Exhibitors will also ensure that their displays here are climate-neutral in conjunction with myclimate2. Between the Open Space and the exhibition halls, there will also be the Blue Lane with special tracks where visitors can test-drive e-scooters and electric, hybrid and hydrogen vehicles. Hotly debated issues such as mobility as a service, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, autonomous driving, future fuels, plus last-mile solutions and rural mobility will feature on the programme with its 17 topic clusters. Many of these formats will be transmitted digitally. The joint project “Automated Valet Parking” illustrates how carmakers and infrastructure providers can work together to offer automated parking in multistorey car parks. Tickets for the IAA MOBILITY 2021 are available from the online shop on the website.
