The “Internationale Funkausstellung” (IFA) in Berlin is the world’s largest trade fair for consumer electronics and household appliances. Founded in 1924 as the “Große Deutsche Funkausstellung” (Great German Consumer Electronics Exhibition) on the Messedamm in Berlin Westend, IFA today presents itself more than ever as a place where the latest technologies and promising innovations are presented. Over the past 99 years, the fair has always brought together industry pioneers and innovative products under one roof, manufacturers presented technical milestones here such as the early detector sets, tube radio receivers, Europe’s first car radio, colour television or the first video recorder. In 1928, one of the first television broadcasts was broadcast under the Berlin Radio Tower, which had been completed two years earlier, and in 1930 Albert Einstein gave the opening speech at the seventh Radio Exhibition.
This year, with the slogan “Consumer Electronics Unlimited”, IFA will be presenting the latest products and innovations from all over the world at the Messe Berlin exhibition grounds from 1 to 5 September, providing a comprehensive overview of the international market. At the same time, with 2000 exhibitors (including 500 start-ups), IFA is the most important meeting place for retailers, buyers, industry experts and the media. 150,000 trade visitors from 150 countries are expected.
