The German Design Council Foundation celebrates its 70th anniversary with “Creating Community. Third German Design Debate” on 22 June 2023 from 5 pm in the Paulskirche in Frankfurt. All interested citizens, designers, entrepreneurs, cultural and art professionals and students are cordially invited.
We are expecting some of the most inspiring personalities of our time to take part in the debate, who have a significant influence on developments in design and related fields. They will address the role of design from very different angles:
Francesca Bria is President of the Italian National Innovation Fund and, in addition to teaching at the Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose at UCL (University College London), she is also part of the High Level Round Table for the New European Bauhaus. Sunny Dolat of The Nest Collective looks at design as an identity-building task in Africa, John Maeda elaborates on the unifying aspects of AI, Kate Crawford takes a critical look at the groundbreaking new technology, Hartmut Esslinger argues for a new design education based on his many years of experience as one of the most well-known product designers in the world, the Young Designers Circle of the World Design Organization (WDO), represented by, among others Kimia Amir-Moazami, shares with us the view of the tasks of the young generation for a future worth living. In addition, we are looking forward to David Kusuma, President of the WDO, of which the German Design Council is a founding member.
