The programme:
The fifth edition of materials.cologne, the well-known platform for knowledge exchange, dialogue and networking around the topic of material innovation, this year focuses on future technologies that will greatly change the design, production and use of products. In the live and online seminar, you will meet renowned experts, learn about new materials and their applications, as well as the thinking behind them, and join in the discussion.

Especially in times of major crises, it is important to remain capable of action with clear values, unifying strategies and concrete activities. Together with KölnBusiness Wirtschaftsförderungs-GmbH and Design Post Köln, Team materials.cologne wants to set a clear sign of cooperation, dialogue and exchange so that design, material and innovation contribute to further enabling social, technical and economic progress.

Thursday 24 March 2022:

Dipl.-Designer Thomas Kropp (D3 Systems, Velbert): “3D technologies in use in industrial design, art, construction and quality management”.

M.Sc. Lisa-Marie Reitmaier (Institute of Image Forming at RWTH Aachen University): “Flexible 3D sheet metal forming for free-formed building envelopes in lightweight construction”.

18.00 to 21.00 “Future Materials Talk”.

With all speakers of materials.cologne and selected experts from industry, research and science. Discussion panel, audience questions, exchange, networking. Only for participants registered for materials.cologne.

Friday 25 March 2022:

3.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. Workshop “Materials and Future Technologies”.

Professor Barbara Milow, Head of Department of the Institute of Materials Research Aerogels at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Cologne: “Aerogels – Fundamentals and Potentials of the “Miracle Material”.

Dipl. Ing. Architekt Claus Fischer and Eckardt M. P. Dauck (Zero Carbon Designs Ltd, Kigali/Rwanda) : “Case Study IBS Board – the climate-friendly wall panel system based on straw”.

For architects and interior designers from NRW, materials.cologne is recognised as a further training event by the NRW Chamber of Architects.
