Matthew Weaver becomes Vice President of Nissan Design Europe
Japanese car manufacturer Nissan maintains design centres across the world to cater to cultural differences and expectations of local consumers. Matthew Weaver has now been appointed as the new Vice President of Nissan Design Europe (NDE). He will be replacing Mamoru Aoki, who is retiring after 39 years with the company. Weaver studied transportation design at Coventry University and the Royal College of Art in London, two renowned institutions for automotive design education in the United Kingdom. He then worked for other automotive brands before joining Nissan in 2001. In his most recent position as Director of the Nissan Design Studio in London, he made a leading contribution to developing the latest generations of the Qashqai and Juke models and was in charge of designing various Infiniti models. Weaver’s appointment as Vice President of NDE represents the first time that a European has occupied the role. Nissan’s other regional design centres are located in San Diego, São Paulo and Shanghai.
