From 26 to 28 April the 29th Leipziger Typotage will take place under the title “Not my Type!”
Since 1995, the “Leipziger Typotage” have been organised by the “Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Druckkunst Leipzig e.V.” and have taken place every year at the Museum für Druckkunst Leipzig. Initially planned as a two-day event, the programme has essentially been concentrated on one Saturday in spring since 2008. In addition to lettering and typography, the conference focuses on graphic design, art, print production techniques and related topics. The 29th Leipziger Typotage will take place from 26 to 28 April under the title “Not my Type! This year’s fee-based event is once again dedicated to current social issues in graphic design with the theme “Typographic Stereotypes”. Typotage will open on Friday with an exhibition showcasing the work of some of the speakers. On Saturday, Ji Hee Lee, Irmi Wachendorff, Golnar Kat Rahmani, Hannah Witte, Katharina Koch, Andreas Blindert and Anja Kaiser will give lectures on the political dimension of typography and topics such as “gender-sensitive typography”. The lectures will culminate in a final discussion. A silkscreen and letterpress workshop will conclude the event on Sunday.
