On red soles. Documentation and an exhibition
Incredibly high stiletto heels and bright red soles are the hallmarks of shoe designer Christian Louboutin. The French designer gained his knowledge and flair for current fashion trends from Charles Jourdan, Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent, to name but a few. In 1991, he founded his own label, which is coveted all around the world with its selection of high-quality shoes and bags. Although a pair of Louboutin shoes could set you back 8,000 euros. The red sole trademark was registered under a U.S. patent in 2014. On 13 March, the ARTE TV station will televise a portrait of the designer and his extraordinary success in the documentary On Red Soles with Christian Louboutin. The exhibition Christian Louboutin, Exhibition[iste], presenting the designer’s work up to the present, will be on show at the Palais de la Porte Dorée in Paris until 26 July 2020.
