Orgatec, which will take place in Cologne from 25 to 29 October 2022, is also one of the trade fairs that had to take a break due to Corona 2020. So four years after the last event in 2018, there should be plenty of new things to show and tell, especially since the topic area of “modern working environments” has also changed enormously in a short time due to the pandemic. The culture of presence seems to be finally broken, the company office competes not only with the home office, but also with coworking spaces or mobile forms of work: “The office of the future can be anywhere… even in the head,” write the organisers. The focus is on the design of spaces and concepts for hybrid, multilocal working in agile teams – the office is becoming a “hub” for personal exchange, co-working, creation and sharing, according to the fair.

Highlights of the fair from a design point of view are likely to be formats such as the design-oriented special show Pure meets Orgatec in Hall 10.2 or the think tank The Next Space, organised by the interior design magazine FRAME on 26 October with the theme “The Empathetic Workplace”. Also of interest: the special area “Materials4Future”, which shows sustainable material innovations, as well as the wide range of thematic, guided tours.
