People in Design – Professorship for Christian Bauer in Saarbrücken

With effect from the winter semester 2019/2020, Christian Bauer has been appointed Professor of the History and Theory of Design at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Saar in Saarbrücken. Originally studying German language and literature, philosophy and political science, he has worked in a number of posts including as a scientific assistant at Bazon Brock. He was awarded his doctorate by the Bergische Universität Wuppertal and has occupied various teaching and scientific positions at German universities. Most of his research is focused on the relationship between design, democracy and mass communication as well as the interplay between design, net culture and applied ethics. His book “Informationstheorie für Designer” (Information Theory for Designers) was published by avedition in autumn this year.
