It is impossible to imagine modern life without plastics, but in view of the worldwide flood of plastic waste it has an image problem – the industry is well aware of this and is taking strong countermeasures at its most important meeting place, the K 2022 trade fair in Düsseldorf: circular economy, climate protection and digitalisation are the declared key themes of this year’s event.

Nowhere else is the plastics and rubber industry gathered in one place with such a high degree of internationality and thus has the ideal conditions for intensive global networking and jointly advancing projects, according to the organisers: A good opportunity also for designers to get up to date with the latest knowledge on the selection, processing and recycling of plastics – and to be inspired for sensible, sustainable applications. Top date for this: The Design Day on 23 October 2022 (link in German), to which the German Design Council invites together with the plastics manufacturer Covestro. Around 3000 exhibitors from 61 countries are expected at the fair.

With the online format of the K-Talk, K 2022 also offers access to expert know-how without having to travel: The digital live talk in English presented monthly discussion rounds with changing international participants on different focal points in the run-up to the fair. The series has been running since January, all K-Talks can still be accessed “on-demand”.
