As part of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative, the European Commission has once again offered prizes for 2022. Awards will be given to existing projects as well as new concepts that exemplify values supported by the NEB, such as sustainability, aesthetics and inclusion. In 2022, a total of 18 projects will be awarded in four categories. These correspond to the thematic focal points of the NEB that emerged from the co-design phase for collecting ideas: Reclaiming nature. – Reclaiming a sense of belonging. – Prioritising places and people most in need of support. – Designing a circular industrial ecosystem and promoting a long-term, life-cycle mindset.
There are two competition areas in each category: “NEB Awards” will recognise existing projects completed in the last two years. The “New European Bauhaus Rising Stars” award will be given for concepts or ideas by young creative people under 30 years of age. The jury will present 16 awards: One first prize, worth 30,000 euros, and one second prize, worth 20,00 euros, for each category and competition area. In addition, the winners will receive a communication package to help them further develop and promote their initiatives. Furthermore, two of the top ranked entries will receive special prizes after a public vote. The first-place winners of the “New European Bauhaus Rising Stars” will receive 15,000 euros, the runners-up 10,000 euros and will also receive communications support.
The closing date for applications for the NEB Prizes 2022 is 28 February at 19:00 CET. Participants from all over the world are invited to apply, provided their concepts, ideas and projects are developed or based in the EU.
