Andrej Kupetz is exiting the Executive Board of the German Design Council for health reasons. His former Managing Director, Lutz Dietzold, is accordingly appointed sole Member of Executive Management of the German Design Council with immediate effect.
The Presiding Committee, under the leadership of President Prof. Peter Pfeiffer, is responding to the extremely unfortunate news that Andrej Kupetz is exiting as the former CEO with this decision.
As a result of the highly successful shared management by Kupetz and Dietzold, the German Design Council has developed into a nationally and internationally renowned design institution. Today, the German Design Council is an independent foundation that is unique in the world as a network for manufacturing and service companies, emphasizes the value of design and brand, and has distinguished itself as an institution that supports young designers.
The Presiding Committee would like to thank Andrej Kupetz for his extraordinary commitment in his service to the foundation. Over the past 20 years, Andrej Kupetz has transformed the German Design Council into a leading global competence centre for design communication and a strong, member-based institution. He represents the relevance of design, innovation and branding for Germany as a centre of industry and commerce like no other. The Presiding Committee, the foundation members and the management as well as the entire team wish him the very best for his continued recovery.
At the Presiding Committee’s last meeting Lutz Dietzold was confirmed as the sole Member of Executive Management of the German Design Council. Dietzold has been managing the German Design Council with Andrej Kupetz since 2002 and will continue to do so in the same tried and tested form as well as in the spirit of the previous collaboration.
