It’s that time again: At the end of the summer semester, many art and design universities are once again inviting visitors to tours and annual exhibitions. In Stuttgart, people are relieved to say what it’s all about after the cancellations, postponements and digital compromises caused by the pandemic: the comebacks of the year. Within their framework and in compliance with the currently valid Corona protection measures, students of the artistic and design fields show what they have created. The always lively presentations, often combined with a summer party, are a good opportunity to find out in a relaxed atmosphere on site at the universities what ideas, topics and issues have been driving and working on the budding designers and artists in recent months.

Here is a selection of the most important dates:

Kicking things off around the first weekend of July is the Hamburg University of Fine Arts, which opens its Graduate Show 2022 on July 7 at 7 p.m. (exhibition runs July 8-10) and the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art, where on July 9 and 10 students from the departments of Sculpture, Stage and Costume Design, Painting, Fashion Design, Product Design, Textile and Surface Design, Visual Communication and Artistic Design Fundamentals, as well as the master’s programs in Spatial Strategies and Art Therapy, will present their work for the 2021/2022 academic year.

On July 15 and 16, the students of the HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd will present their final and project works to the public, including unusual communication and exhibition concepts, multimedia installations and innovative product developments.  The annual exhibitions of the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg, of the Kunsthochschule Kassel and the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe, will take place from July 14 to 17.
