Traditional design patterns? Models that change from season to season? Poor quality of workmanship? If you’re expecting something along these lines, you’ve come to the wrong place. Since 2012, Esther and Dimitrios Tsatsas have been creating somewhat different leather bags and accessories that impress with their very own design language and perfect craftsmanship. The German Leather Museum (DLM) is using the occasion of its tenth anniversary to present the internationally active designer label, which is nevertheless produced regionally in Offenbach am Main, from 1 April to 30 October under the title Tsatsas. Insight Retrospect Outlook” from 1 April to 30 October.

In the exhibition, the creative work process is made tangible from the perspective of the designer couple. This begins with the design and extends to the transformation of traditional craftsmanship to the contemporary sources of inspiration from art, design, architecture and music used in the design. The exhibition, says the announcement, “provides insights into the sophisticated design of leather goods and the craft through varied thematic sections. It also highlights cooperation projects and takes an exciting look behind the scenes of the successful label”. The highlight of the presentation will be a kinetic installation in which more than 30 Tsatsas models from past years will pass by the visitors in an endless loop as if on a conveyor belt. In addition, there will be projects and collaborations with personalities from a wide range of creative fields, including jewellery designer Saskia Diez, former Braun chief designer Dieter Rams and architect Sir David Chipperfield.
