“Material Bank” claims to be the world’s largest marketplace for searching, sampling and specifying architectural, design and construction materials. Now the company has announced that it has acquired “raumprobe”, the leading online materials database and physical materials exhibition in Stuttgart. “As we launch Material Bank in Europe, raumprobe will support our growth and expansion, especially in Germany, an extremely important market in Europe for the construction industry,” said Philippe Brocart, Managing Director and Head of Material Bank Europe. “In addition to our digital platform, raumprobe’s physical showroom is ideally located in Stuttgart, the city with the highest density of architects in the world and home to major architecture schools.” Joachim Stumpp and Hannes Bäuerle will become Material Bank’s Managing Directors for the DACH region and will continue to run raumprobe’s existing business without interruption for clients and members.
“Achim and Hannes,” said Adam I. Sandow, founder and CEO of Material Bank, had built “one of the most trusted resources for architects in the DACH region” with raumprobe: “We saw immediate synergies in the innovative way raumprobe has connected architecture brands with architects over the past 18 years, and we couldn’t be more excited about the profound impact this acquisition will have on Material Bank’s growth and strategic positioning within the architecture and design community in Europe.” The qualities of raumprobe, “including strong relationships within the architecture and design industry”, would support Material Bank’s growth and “open the doors to a community of more than 130,000 design and architecture professionals from Germany, Austria and Switzerland”.
