A few weeks ago we reported on Wim Crouwel receiving the TDC Medal. With the monographic exhibition Wim Crouwel: Mr. Gridnik open until 22 March 2020, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam pays tribute to the extensive work of this famed Dutch graphic designer and typographer. As the title indicates, the exhibition places special focus on the grid system, which Wim Crouwel passionately defended as being the designer’s most important tool. His works are strongly influenced by the Swiss school of graphic design, with its rational, minimalist approach, which often makes use of the grid system. The exhibition also features the documentary film “wim crouwel modernist” by Lex Reitsma.
