In times when the home is experiencing renewed appreciation, Heimtextil has presented the trends for 2021/22 at an online press conference and given a preview of the design themes at the international trade fair for home and contract textiles, which is due to take place from 12 to 15 January 2021 in Frankfurt am Main. Next season’s trend forecast, developed jointly with the Heimtextil “Trend Council” (Anja Bisgaard Gaede from SPOTT Trends & Business, Anne Marie Commandeur from Stiljinstituut Amsterdam and Kate Franklin and Caroline Till from London-based studio FranklinTill), has a special motto: Nothing New, Everything New. Readers can already delve into the design themes in this trend book, which is available as of now. Guests at the fair will be able to experience the trends live in Hall 3.0 during Heimtextil.

Since digital transformation and sustainability in the textiles industry continue to prove themselves as key topics for innovation, and as ones that have increased even further in importance during the coronavirus pandemic, the Heimtextil Trends 21/22 aim to offer an overview of these developments’ current status. There are four trend categories that represent the contents: “Repurpose” (What are all the things that can be created from materials that already exist?), “Rewild” (Welcome to the jungle), “Reinforce” (Raw, reliable, expressive) and “Revive” (Creativity and youth activism). In addition, there will be a second issue of the “Future Materials Library” next year following its premiere in January 2020. After the launch of the “Material Manifesto” one year ago, the designers are committing to a sustainable design for the “Trend Space”.
