For 70 years now, the German Design Council Foundation has contributed to communication, knowledge transfer, networking and promotion in all areas of the design process. Countless initiatives, concepts and formats have emerged worldwide that connect design with business, science, culture and politics. Design builds bridges in all these areas, creates communities, and is an indispensable part of every creative process. With this anniversary, we would like to celebrate forms of collaboration and interdisciplinary work under the theme “Creating Community”.

Participants will be collectives and personalities who effect social and economic change through their work. They will debate the core areas with which the German Design Council is engaged and together develop visions for a livable and fairer future. Cross-disciplinary work, the equal bundling of many competences and the constant growth of networks with an omnipresent availability of knowledge are examples of the fact that a paradigm shift can be observed over the last few years: the visibility of solutions, concepts and products of many sometimes displaces the presence of individuals.

With the debate, we want to reflect on this development and reveal the connecting, productive and fundamental qualities for change from the broad field of design. We are all moving in a multi-dimensional transformation that is being shaped with the means of design. The debate will illustrate the power of design processes and design policy in shaping the future.

When: Thursday, 22 June 2023, 5 – 7.30 p.m., followed by a reception
Location: Paulskirche, Frankfurt am Main

This event is free of charge.

THE PROGRAMME WILL BE PUBLISHED HERE SOON.
