The connection of two elements is not only a functional but also an aesthetic challenge for designers and architects. The book “U-Joints – A taxonomy of connections” helps in the search for possibilities and models. What began in 2018 with an exhibition is now recorded on 943 pages: a classification of connections, from nails and screws to wooden joints and mechanical solutions to methods such as knots, gluing or welding. The possibilities are presented lexically and illustrated by extensive visual material. In addition, the volume offers text contributions by 120 (!) authors with essays, interviews and stories on the topic.
