Design and technology of intelligent textiles: the SmartTecStyle online conference at Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences.

Textiles, their design and the technologies to produce and process them are playing an increasingly important role in the context of sustainable production. Hosted by the Department of Engineering and Mathematics and organised by the Textile Technologies Working Group at Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, the first SmartTecStyle conference is taking place online. At the conference, international speakers from science and industry will present current results from research and development. The agenda includes topics such as “Smart Textiles and Clothing”, “Technical Textiles”, “E-Textiles”, “Smart Trends for Fashion, Design and Style” or “Combining Textiles with Other Materials”.

Among others, Prof. Dr. Tomasz Blachowicz from the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice will talk about “Fractal Properties of Textiles”, Dominik Münks from TU Dresden about the “Development of 3D-printed Composite Elements for Better Torso Protection”. Prof. Dr. Anne Schwarz-Pfeiffer from Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences will talk about “Filament-based resilient sensors for smart textile applications” and Alina Slomkowski from the Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration (IZM) will talk about “Design for recycling e-textiles – a circular approach”. The conference will take place on 15 and 16 December via Zoom. Registration and participation are free of charge.
