Hugh Weber, new Managing Director at Design Observer

In 2003, the Design Observer launched a website in the USA aimed solely at becoming an internationally significant platform for exchanging key information and opinions on the wide-ranging subjects relating to design. Thanks to its founders, Rick Poyner, Michael Bierut, Jessica Helfland and William Drenttel, it was built on a solid foundation of serious, challenging journalism, producing relevant content. That is how the Design Observer was able to become such a critical platform for discourse about design. The podcast “Design Matters”, initiated by Debbie Millman in 2005, was also ahead of its time in communicating important topics and delivering insightful content. This multi-award-winning media company now has a new Managing Director. Hugh Weber will take over this role with immediate effect, and will continue to develop the company in all areas thanks to his expertise. He holds a Bachelors’ degree in Political Science, serves on the National Board of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) and is a member of the Advisory Committee of Design for America, a university network that supports design initiatives for local and social impact.
