Ruediger Goetz is becoming the managing director of the Peter Schmidt Group. The multiple-award-winning designer will therefore be running the business of the design agency – which is part of the BBDO Group – jointly with both managing partners, Armin Angerer and Lukas Cottrell, from autumn 2020. Goetz, who is making the move from Grey subsidiary KW43, is a member of the ADC and DDC and professor at the Akademie für Mode & Design (AMD) as well as the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences. He is a juror for creative competitions, acting as Germany’s representative on the design jury for Cannes Lions 2017. He will be working chiefly from the Hamburg office of the Peter Schmidt Group by no later than November 2020. The three future directors have known each other for many years and say that they have been in close communication for some time already. “The task of continuing the creative development of a successful and industry-shaping agency such as the Peter Schmidt Group is one that I find highly stimulating,” says Goetz. “For me, the Peter Schmidt Group is the strongest brand in our discipline. It combines the history of its style-defining founding figure with the broad spectrum of expertise within its teams and the power of an international agency network. These characteristics make it an interesting option in the international design market, especially right now.” The Peter Schmidt Group is the lead agency for the corporate designs of Deutsche Bahn and Mercedes-Benz. Its clients also include companies such as Henkel, Linde, Postbank, KfW, Douglas and Rewe.
