The “Dieter and Ingeborg Rams Foundation” was established back in 1992. Initially, its main purpose was to transfer the estate of Dieter and Ingeborg Rams into a scientific archive. Since 2023, the foundation has had greater financial leeway and, in addition to the archive, would like to “contribute to a discourse on possible areas of activity in industrial design”. The activities are to be expanded under the international name Rams Foundation. To achieve this, the foundation recently launched its own website, which provides information about the foundation, its founders and their approach to design. The website now also includes a magazine with articles and interviews, which will be regularly expanded and provide new insights into the work and reception of Dieter Rams in particular. For researchers and anyone interested in Rams’ work, online access to the “Dieter and Ingeborg Rams Archive” will be particularly important from spring 2024, providing initial insights into the collection of documents and photographs via a digital finding aid. The temporary Dieter Rams Forum has also just opened in Frankfurt’s Museum Angewandte Kunst, where an exhibition on the works of Dieter Rams and the photographs of Ingeborg Rams will be on display until 24 March 2024. There will be further events during the exhibition period.
