ForschDesign research. Two conferences

Research in the field of design explores how each facet of our everyday lives is influenced by design. It is conducted at research institutes, companies, universities and museums. Extremely diverse methods and approaches are applied as to how and for what purpose research is done on present-day economic, social, ecological and media-related processes. During the next few weeks, two conferences will give attendees the chance to gain insights into current research. On 1 and 2 November, the Basel College for Design and Art will host New Experimental Research in Design/NERD, bringing together ten critical design researchers, including guests from Japan, Hong Kong, Melbourne, New York, Canada and London, to present their ideas and analyses and discuss them afterwards with the public. This theme will be continued at the Technology and Research in Art and Design symposium to be held on 8 November at the ECAL École cantonale d’art in Lausanne, exploring the links between technology and research in the fields of art and design. Like the event in Basel, this symposium in Lausanne will also feature speakers from international institutions discussing the findings from their research.
