The Lamy brand stands worldwide for high-quality writing instruments that combine perfect functionality and timeless aesthetics. The success story initiated by Dr Manfred Lamy according to the Bauhaus principle began in 1966 with the Lamy 2000 fountain pen designed by Gerd A. Müller and has since been continued in successful collaborations with renowned designers from Franco Clivio to Jasper Morrison.

Almost four years ago, a three-man management team consisting of Beate Oblau, Thomas Trapp and Peter Utsch started the further development of Lamy into a global lifestyle brand. On 1 February, Steffen Rübke will now become CEO and Chairman of the Management Board of C. Josef Lamy GmbH, based in Heidelberg-Wieblingen. The 48-year-old comes from the MairDumont travel publishing group in Ostfildern, where he has been Managing Director for more than five years. As chairman of the management board, Rübke will be responsible for marketing and sales. Peter Utsch, currently Managing Director for Production, Finance and Corporate Services at Lamy, will continue to be responsible for these areas as COO/CFO and second Managing Director. The Managing Director responsible for Marketing, Beate Oblau, will retire from the company after 30 years of successful work at Lamy, as will Sales Managing Director Thomas Trapp after more than 20 years. Both will support Steffen Rübke in his start in Heidelberg.

Vera Lamy, co-owner of the company with her brother Markus Lamy, thanked the two departing executives: “Beate Oblau and Thomas Trapp have successfully driven the new strategic direction and set the course for Lamy’s future, among other things with the digital writing segment and the establishment of the Lamy innovation lab NEO66 in Berlin.” With a turnover of around 80 million euros, influenced by Corona last year, and an annual production of seven million writing instruments, Lamy is the market leader in Germany. The company produces exclusively in Germany and employs around 350 people in Heidelberg.
